How to make a Halloween black margarita with a blackberry kick

Choosing the best part of Halloween is frightfully hard. How do you even begin to pick between Kit Kats and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Haunted hayrides or haunted houses? One thing is easy: Whether you're thinking costume party or watching horror movies all night long at home, you need drinks worthy of howling at the moon, like the eerie-sistible black margarita.

This drink is so creepy thanks to activated charcoal, which you can find in the vitamin and supplement sections of retailers such as Target and Walmart. Just two capsules is all you need to color the creep salt rim and the drink itself.

We used activated charcoal capsules to color the salt for the Black Magic Blackberry Margarita.

We went deep into the darkness with our version of a black margarita we named the Black Magic Blackberry Margarita. Fearlessly, we added the earthy sweetness of Duplin Blackberry wine, a dash of raspberry liqueur and heart-of-darkness molasses for a touch of unusual sweetness. Classic lime and white tequila round out this boo-tiful drink. Garnish it with a little triangle of lime, blood orange and/or fresh blackberries.

The Black Magic Blackberry Margarita is tart and refreshing, with a hint of berry sweetness that you can bring out by using black frosting rather than lime juice to salt-rim the glass. The frosting is a tasty play against the salt and will ensure that you're the ghostest with the mostest this Halloween.
