How to make Italy's famous wine spritzer even better

Italians seem to live the good life better than anyone else. Their designer clothing, snazzy sports cars, amazing pasta and dreamy vistas make everyone want to live la dolce vita. So who could blame us for putting a sweet Duplin twist on Italy's crazy popular Aperol spritz cocktail.

The refreshing blend is traditionally made by blending dry sparkling white wine, usually prosecco, with Aperol, a of citrusy, slightly bitter apéritif. We subbed in Duplin Scuppernong white wine to add an extra level of sweetness and added sparkling water to create the spritz's signature bubbles.

The Duplin Scuppernong Spritz is the go-to, light cocktail for brunch, girls' summer nights out and sunset meetups by the shore. Because it goes down so easy, the spritz makes a fine lawnmover cocktail, too. The Aperol's bitterness (you could use Campari instead) slightly tones down Scuppernong's sweetness without canceling the wine's fruity flavor.

Serve the Duplin Scuppernong Spritz in a big-bowl wine glass or a high ball glass. Garnish the drink with a sliced orange slice or wheel and a festive paper straw.
