Barbecue Bacon-wrapped Hot Dogs
These dogs come out kind of cripsy and loaded with flavor from the marinated bacon. Put them on buns with grilled onions, roasted peppers and raw sweet onions. Finish with a generous layer of cheddar cheese before running the dogs in their buns under the broiler until the cheese is bubbly.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons Duplin Gourmet Muscadine Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Duplin Gourmet Muscadine Barbecue Sauce
- 4 strips medium-thick-cut bacon
- 4 hot dogs
- 4 hot dog buns
- 1/2 cup grilled onions
- 1/2 cup Roasted red peppers, diced
- 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
- 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Place Duplin Gourmet Muscadine Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce in a small, shallow bowl.
- Place 2 strips of bacon in the bowl, swirling the bacon around the sauce until bacon is coated in sauce.
- Duplin Gourmet Muscadine Barbecue Sauce in another small, shallow bowl.
- Place 2 strips of bacon in that bowl, swirling the bacon around the sauce until bacon is coated in sauce.
- Cover both bowls containing sauce and bacon and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees or air fryer to 360 degrees.
- Remove marinated bacon strips from the bowls and lay the bacon on a plate or glass or plastic cutting board. Wrap one bacon strip around one hot dog. Continue with remaining bacon strips and hot dogs.
- Lay wrapped hot dogs on a sheet pan. Cook the bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. In an air fryer, cook the dogs 15-17 minutes.
- Place hot dogs in buns on a clean sheet pan. Garnish Muscadine Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce with grilled onions. Garnish Muscadine Barbecue Sauce dogs with sweet onions and roasted red peppers. Top all the dogs with shredded cheese.
- Turn on the oven broiler.
- Cook hot dogs under the broiler, about 8 inches from the heat, until cheese is bubbly.
- Remove dogs from oven. Drizzle a little of the barbecue sauces on the hot dogs before serving.
