Frozen Irish Coffee Mocha
This frosty, sweet, Southern spin on Irish coffee takes a mocha route with berry notes from Duplin Hatteras Red wine, a punch of coffee-flavored whiskey and a layer of sweet cream on top. Slushy and delicious, it's a decadent drink that also works as a potent, sippable St. Patrick's Day dessert.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cold heavy cream
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 packet of dry Duplin Chocolatini Sweetzer mix or 8 tablespoons (about 5 ounces) of your favorite hot cocoa mix
- 1¼ cups Hatteras Red
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee, dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water
- ½ cup coffee-flavored whiskey
- 4-6 cups ice
Directions:
- Pour heavy cream and sugar into a small jar. Place the lid on the jar. Shake jar vigorously for about 1 minute. Cream should be about the consistency of melted ice cream. Refrigerate cream while mixing Frozen Irish Coffee.
- Place Chocolatini Sweetzer or your favorite hot cocoa mix, Hatteras Red, dissolved instant coffee, whiskey and ice in a blender. Whizz at high speed for about 1 minute or until mixture is smooth and slushy.
- Pour mixture into 4 clear glass coffee mugs or stemmed water goblets until mugs or glasses are three-fourths full.
- Remove the jar of cream from the refrigerator. Shake the jar vigorously for about 30 seconds. Pour cream over Frozen Irish Coffee in mugs or glasses until cream is level with the rim. Serve immediately.
- Makes 4-5 servings.
